Electricity or Power Supply
Electricity or power supply in Indonesia is run by a state-utility called Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN). The power works on 220 – 240 voltage. Any devices using voltage lower than that cannot be applied here, except by using a transformer or a step down converter. Plug type uses the 2-pin type. For visualization, please go to “Gallery”. Watts capacity applied in houses varied from 450 to more than 2,200 watts. Please ensure for your electronic devices to have the required watts capacity before they are plugged in.
The provision of water services in urban areas is the responsibility of PDAMs (Perusahaan Daerah Air Minum), Local Government Owned Water Utilities. For drinking consumption, water quality in Indonesia is not sufficient to be drunk directly. It MUST be boiled or purified first. Mineral waters are commercially sold in bottles. Please ensure that you buy mineral waters in supermarkets, mini-markets or shops, NOT on the streets. For household consumptions, some people also depend on groundwater because of surface water scarcity. However, groundwater potential in Indonesia is very limited.
